What’s New From the World of Cannabis

Ohio’s Recreational Cannabis On The Ballot

Folks in Ohio will vote on a proposed legal cannabis bill today on November 7. If passed, the bill, known as Cannabis State Issue 2, will legalize, regulate and tax adult-use marijuana. The proposal comes from the Coalition To Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, which envisions the establishment of a state program for buying, selling, smoking and growing adult-use cannabis.

Opposing groups to State Issue 2, which include the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and Ohio Veterans First, have concerns that legal adult-use cannabis will mean more people consuming cannabis, and may lead to more on-the-job accidents and traffic accidents from marijuana intoxication.
A poll by USA Today reveals some public opinion, showing 58.6% of people approve of adult-use cannabis in Ohio, while 35% oppose it, and 6% were undecided.

If the bill has enough support and passes, Ohio will join 24 states allowing legal adult-use cannabis. Notably, Ohio’s State Issue 2 does not include provisions for expunging or pardoning any cannabis convictions. Instead, the bill introduces a forward-thinking social equity program to support businesses that have been adversely affected by decades of marijuana prohibition.
Ohio voters have a significant decision to make today, as they cast their votes on this potentially transformative bill that mirrors the future of cannabis policy in America.

Cannabis School Teaches For Cannabis Careers
The Cleveland School of Cannabis in Cleveland, Ohio, offers education and opportunity for students intrigued by the budding cannabis industry. Students of the school can enroll in educational courses for dispensary operators, cannabis lawyers, master growers and more. The curriculum offers diverse courses including cannabis dispensaries, cannabis horticulture, CBD comprehensive, and cannabis law and policies. CSC is the only state-approved school for cannabis education, east of Colorado.

No, there is not smoking at the school. There is no marijuana either. The students are actively engaged in hands-on learning, tending and cultivating hemp plants in the campus grow lab.
Nicole Fenix, the Director of Education at CSC, has been an integral part of the school since opening in 2017. She is “a big believer in cannabis as medicine” after witnessing her son’s positive health transformation by using medical cannabis to alleviate inflammation from colitis.

The Cleveland School of Cannabis offers a flexible learning experience, combining in-person and online classes. Tuition is in the range of $7500 to $14,000, providing an affordable cannabis education for those who seek it.
